Description
The National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) was set up in 2006 by the Indian government to make more fish and help fish farming all over the country. They work closely with the Department of Fisheries in the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying. NFDB supports various activities like fish farming in ponds, coastal areas, and even deep sea fishing. They also help with building fishing infrastructure, marketing fish, and training fishermen. NFDB is overseen by a Governing Body led by the Fisheries Minister, and its day-to-day work is managed by an Executive Committee headed by the Secretary of the Department of Fisheries. The NFDB is led by a Chief Executive.
